Food Security

Nourishing Communities, Empowering Women

At LHF, we believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of community well-being. Since 2018, we have been committed to alleviating food insecurity through two key initiatives:

Sustainable Farming Project : Overall Project Impact

✅ 100 farmers trained in sustainable agriculture.
✅ 500+ indirect beneficiaries from improved food production and economic opportunities.
✅ 40% projected increase in crop yields, enhancing food security in the region.
✅ ₦30,000–₦50,000 per farmer increase in annual income due to better productivity and market access.
✅ Reduction of water costs by 35% due to better irrigation and water management.
✅ 20% reduction in post-harvest losses, increasing food availability.
✅ Strengthened women’s participation in farming through training on livestock ( goats) rearing and home gardening.

By integrating economic empowerment, sustainability, and food security, the Islamic Farming Project helped build self-sufficiency, resilience, and long-term prosperity for farming communities in Rano Local Government, Kano State.

Food Security Projects:

1. Ramadan & Eid al-Kabir Food Drives

Every Ramadan and Eid al-Kabir, LHF organizes food distribution drives to provide essential food supplies to families in need. These efforts ensure that vulnerable households can observe these sacred occasions with dignity and nourishment.

2. Home Gardening for Sustainable Nutrition

Beyond immediate food relief, we empower women with the knowledge and skills to grow their own food through home gardening workshops. By teaching sustainable gardening techniques, we help women cultivate fresh produce, improve household nutrition, and enhance food security year-round.

Through these initiatives, LHF is not just feeding communities—we are fostering long-term resilience and self-sufficiency.

Join us in the fight against hunger. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
