The quality of care provided in any facility is only as good as the quality of personnel in such facilities. Our midwives are very central in the care of mothers and their babies. The rate of pregnancy related complications have been on the increase as well as incidences of mismanaged labor and delivery. We hope to put a stop to these negative developments.
Our goal is to ensure that all our midwives are adequately trained and equipped to recognize potential complications and prevent or minimize these accordingly. We wish to achieve these by training and retraining our midwives to enhance their efficiency.
LHF in conjunction with her partner, GlobalOne collaborated with the office of the Hon. Commissioner for Health in Kano State, Kano state Primary Healthcare Management Board, Kano State Hospitals Management Board and the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital to recruit, and train midwives and community health extension workers over a 2 weeks period. They received training on life saving skills with a focus on maternal health care as well as become familiar with the use of more modern equipment and gadgets.
This program was expanded to accommodate community health extension workers (CHEWs), providing them with the tools they need to better preserve the health and lives of our women and children.
